Errol Spence Jr. just won an epic fight against Kell Brook in Sheffield, England in front of 27,000 fans in the U.K., in front of Brook’s home crowd.
I think this was one of, if not the best fight in 2017. It was a great back and forth, technical battle through the whole 11 rounds, until Kell took a knee in the 11th.
Most Punches Landed On Brook In Any Round
After the 10th round, the accouncers said that Spence landed 30 punches on Brook, which the announcer said, according to Shostats, was the most Brook has ever been hit with in a single round. And this is not the first time Errol Spence Jr. has left an impressive mark through one of his fights.
Previously he has also had some very impressive finishes. He stopped Chris Algieri, who went a full 12 rounds against Manny Pacquiao, and had never been stopped before. He also stopped Leonard Bundu, who went a full 12 rounds against Keith Thurman. He also knocked down Chris Van Herdeen, and it is said that was the first time that has happened in Van Herdeen’s entire pro and amateur career.
These are some very impressive aspects of his game, as very often, high level fights like these go the full distance, and there is no denying these are all high level fighters who Errol faced, all of whom have held titles.
Errol won his first pro title against Brook Saturday, which may be one reason he isn’t super well known, or talked about quite yet, like Vasyl Lomachenko, who is ranked highly on a few pound for pound lists, with only 9 pro fights. Granted Lomachenko is a stand out, impressive fighter and deserving of that ranking, especially with his insane amateur record, and I think Errol is deserving of being on the top 10 P4P list very soon, if he keeps on at the pace he is going!
Now he is facing Lamont Peterson in January 2018, and then is in Bud Crawford’s radar, and if you follow him at all, you likely know that he has his sites set on a match with Keith Thurman.
